ROGERS – Registration is now open online for the annual Rogers Christmas Parade, set for Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.To enter a float or group, go online to http://bit.ly/HooplaRogers for safe and secure registration.
This year’s parade will feature the theme “Holidays Around the World.” The parade is one of more than 10 family-friendly events and activities planned for Holiday Hoopla in downtown Rogers, coordinated by Main Street Rogers, Inc. The deadline for entries is Nov. 15.
Entry fees are $20 for floats (trailers pulled by a vehicle), decorated vehicles, walking or marching units, and $30 for groups featuring more than one vehicle, such as car clubs. All entries must be lighted and decorated for the holiday. Additionally, no entry may carry Santa Claus, as he will be the guest of honor on the last entry of the parade.
Judging for the four award categories will begin at 6 p.m., and entries should be in place along Fifth Street at that time. Cash prizes of $100 each are awarded based on the following criteria: “Spectacular Sparkles” for the entry that presents an outstanding display of lights or other type of illumination; “Elfin Magic” for the outstanding entry featuring children; “Glory of Angels” to the most outstanding entry illustrating a religious theme; and “Knock Your Stockings Off” given to the entry with the most outstanding use of the parade theme.
Parade entries will leave the starting gate at 7 p.m., and should pass in front of the Frisco Stage at First and Elm streets at 7:15 p.m. The parade route begins at the corner of South Fifth and Poplar streets, heading east toward the business district. Entries will turn left onto South First Street, passing parade judges and emcees at the Frisco Stage. The route turns left again onto West Walnut Street for six blocks to turn left onto Seventh Street, ending at Tillery Elementary School.
Holiday Hoopla is a series of family-friendly events and activities coordinated by Main Street Rogers, Inc. and many downtown Rogers businesses. More than 10 events will be held, starting on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, and continuing right up to Christmas. Events are open to the public, and free of charge unless otherwise noted.
