Choctaw Casinos to Match Funds Raised By Guests for Breast Cancer Research

Choctaw Casinos are raising money for breast cancer research throughout the month of October. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, eight Choctaw Casino locations will donate 100 percent of the sales from select specialty cocktails and guests can make cash donations. At some locations, guests can also purchase specialty menu items and pink T-shirts. All money raised through these efforts will go to Susan G. Komen. Additionally, Choctaw Casinos has announced a dollar for dollar match, up to $100,000, for money raised collectively by all of the locations, making the total potential donation up to $200,000.

Choctaw Casino Resort-Durant, Choctaw Casino Resort-Grant, Choctaw Casino Hotel in Pocola, and Choctaw Casinos in Idabel, Broken Bow, McAlester, Stigler and Stringtown are all taking part in this fundraiser. Each location will feature the $5 Ta-Ta Tini, and cash donations and slot tickets can be deposited into the donation drums near the Players Club desk.

“Raising money for breast cancer research and local breast health programs is important to our associates and the communities we serve,” said Janie Dillard, executive director of gaming for Choctaw Casinos. “Nearly everyone knows someone who has been impacted by breast cancer, and we want to do our part to help raise awareness and save lives.”

This is the second year that Choctaw Casinos have held this fundraiser at all destination properties. “We are thrilled to have the continuous support of Choctaw Casinos,” said Susan Tilkin, development and special events manager for Susan G. Komen Tulsa. “By hosting a month-long fundraiser at several properties, they’re helping to keep the cause top-of-mind throughout our community.”

In addition to raising money, associates at each location will wear pink to increase awareness of the disease and the importance of early detection. Some members of the Choctaw Casinos family will wear pink ties, pink lapel pins or pink T-shirts.
